green tea and its health benefits

hello, friends!
enjoying the chilly winter weather with a hot cup of milk tea.

some benefits green tea has to offer:
polyphenols present in green tea have been shown to
"slow the onset of atherosclerosis, some forms of cancer,
and slow the onset and severity of arthritis"
and theanine can "help anti-cancer chemicals
(such as doxorubicin) kill tumor cells more specifically" (106).
green tea also contains caffeine,
which can help boost your energy and mood.

I love this stuff.
my drink today is green tea with honey and almond milk.
read an earlier post on how to make milk tea here.
check the Pam Hunni Fitness Store
for teas I like and recommend.

Lose Weight FAST and EASY With Dance Cardio

After a hiatus, I like to get back into working out with Dance Cardio.
I love to dance and used to do dance performances a few years ago,
so it is something I am used to and know will be lots of fun.
Dance Cardio workouts improve cardiovascular fitness and flexibility,
and if it is something you are new to,
I guarantee you will feel that wonderful soreness in the first few weeks.
This is because you use muscle groups in your body that you don't usually use
in machine exercises such as elliptical or treadmill,
or other exercises like jogging or walking.
Dance is core-intensive! If you didn't know that, well there it is!
When you dance you always have to keep your core tight
and keep your posture sexy so you will definitely see a change in your midsection!
But you are having so much fun that you won't even realize it has been
an hour and a half of exercise til you're done!
And at that point you will be wanting more because
dance is so sexy and invigorating.

The workouts I like to do include
Zumba, Rockin Body, and Just Dance 2014.
So much fun!
I would also like to join a Social Salsa class.
Perhaps in the not too distant future, I shall do that!

Do you like to do dance workouts?

Bikini Body 2014

Hello, friends! October was such a crazy month for me. It was truly difficult to make progress with my diet and exercise! But I exercised when I could and it always made me feel better. I think a great approach, when you are busy with life and it's never-ending surprises, is to keep pursuing your goal. Fit your exercise when you can so it does not build up to become an intimidating, insurmountable obstacle! When you perform aerobic exercise at least three times and resistance training once or twice a week, you are be able to maintain your levels physical fitness, preventing your previous efforts from deteriorating.

November is looking to be another busy and demanding month. I am adjusting my approach to focus more on my food intake. I have created a food log with my dream body in mind: the background is a sexy, white sand beach, which I know will motivate me to eat healthfully so I can be bikini sexy by Summer 2014!

Here is the BikiniBody2014 Daily Food Log.

Please give it a try and let me know what you think!
Serving sizes and food groups information can be found

Have a great month and I will check back in soon!

Healthy, Happy September!

Hello, friends! A new month is upon us!
Healthy, Happy September is the month
you take control of your health and improve your lifestyle.
I'm here to share what I have learned regarding
nutrition, exercise, and wellness to help you live
the healthy, happy life you deserve.

Here is the Healthy, Happy Me Weekly Nutrition & Exercise Log!
You can print and use for the week, or fill it out using a program or app.

I use this log to keep track of my daily portions of each food group.
I check off the portions and write down what I eat as I go along my day.
this Food-A-Pedia has a searchable database which gives you
food group and serving size information.
also check http://www.choosemyplate.gov/food-groups/ for information
on the different food groups, and what counts as a serving size.

the Healthy, Happy Me Log also has a water intake tracker.
drinking water helps your body function at its best,
so make sure you check off your water intake!

activity output is logged in terms of
time in minutes and METs, or Metabolic Equivalent.
METs are, simply put, rating the intensity of your activities from 1-10,
1 MET = sitting at rest, watching TV
4 METS = brisk walk, aerobics
5 METS = bicycling or jogging
8 METS = running, bootcamp class

I hope you use this log to track your food and activities!
please comment with any questions or suggestions you have!

new territory & making progress

hello, again friends!
I spent the afternoon doing test shoots for the tutorial videos.
it was good exercise and so much fun.

me practicing for our videos

I can't wait to share this stuff with you!
It's going to be fun (I hope! lol)
I would really appreciate any tips, advice, or feedback from you.
making videos is new territory for me
so I'm attending to the necessary details before proceeding!

I also wanted to share some pictures of my progress!

the first pic on the left is from Thanksgiving of last year.
I remember seeing that pic and feeling pretty sad about
having gained quite a bit of weight...
the two middle photos are from end of May,
about 10 weeks ago.
and the pic on the far right is from today.
I feel pretty good about the changes so far!
what do you think?
